1/13: Meals/Fitness for the week

Well, I finally took the plunge of getting my own self-hosted site/domain.

Annnnd it was a ton of work!  Who knew that I could search my way through the internet and figure out coding and css?  It looked like a foreign language to me when I started.  And let’s be honest, it still does now!  I still need to tweak some parts of the site, but I’m liking it so far.  Any advice from computer/IT gurus is totally welcome!

Since I’ve spent the *cough* entire *cough* weekend working on the site, this post is going to be short and sweet with my plans for the week.

Fitness:

Monday- Full body strength session

Tuesday- 1 hour power yoga class

Wednesday- 45 minute spin class

Thursday- Full body strength session and HIIT on treadmill

Friday- 1 hour power yoga class

Saturday- 1 hour power yoga class

Sunday- rest

I feel 1000x better since getting back into a regular workout routine from the holidays.  And I can safely say that I’ve lost all of the holiday weight I shamelessly but on.  whewww!  My yoga teacher has been killing it in class lately and I’m loving all of the butt-kicking.

Meal Ideas (tentative)

-chicken/kale enchiladas

-quinoa soup

-roasted veggies with goat cheese sauce

-falafels

I’m not grocery shopping until Tuesday, so I only need to plan for a few days before I can get back into the swing of getting my groceries on Saturday mornings.

Some recent eats:IMG_1240

twice baked turkey sweet potatoes and simple spinach salad

IMG_1237

old fashioned oats soaked in a green monster overnight (1 ripe banana, 1 cup almond milk, spinach to the top of the blender and soaked w/ 1/2 cup oats)

IMG_1241

2 eggs overeasy over homemade refried beans and a grapefruit

IMG_1247cauliflower crust pizza!  My first time making this and I used this recipe. The verdict: pretty good!  I liked that it cut a lot of calories and added another layer of veggies to the za (I topped mine with artichokes and green olives), but I still missed my go-to homemade crust I make.  I just can’t give up the carbs!  Carb queen forevvvaaa!

I’m off to make a pasta meal (recipe coming your way tomorrow!) and clean around the house before settling down to watch Biggest Loser!

xoxo

Question: Have you taught yourself a new skill before?

Congrats on the self-hosted blog! So exciting :) If you decide to make the chicken and kale enchiladas, I’d love for you to share the recipe! It sounds delicious and healthy.

Love the new blog!!! I used WordPress to get my own domain, but I’ve gotta get on it with an improved layout.

All of your food sounds delish. I’ve been meaning to make a green monster for breakfast one of these days, but I never have time for the blender in the morning (plus I avoid loud noises before 9am :P ) … Combining it with overnight oats is a cool idea!

Thanks! I like your layout right now :) You don’t even need to blend in the morning, blend the night before and then soak the oats in it overnight! All you need to do when you wake up is make it to the fridge haha!

Oh gosh, you have me all kinds of scared to switch over from free wordpress to another hosting company. I actually like my theme but wonder if I could keep it if I do switch. Hmmmm? I don’t have the funds to pay someone to do all the fancy schmancy stuff and I doubt I could figure it out myself.

On another note, your eggs over the refried beans. Delicious!!!!

Oh my, I’m so sorry I didn’t mean to scare you so much! I’m pretty sure you could keep your theme if you switch – you probably wouldn’t have do make any changes at all since you are already using a wordpress theme! Just ask the potential host (or wordpress) the questions and it won’t be that bad. Promise! And yes, eggs over beans are the best!

I am impressed! It looks great so far. I want to take the plunge and self-host eventually but it’s too overwhelming to think about currently. Slash I need to get better at posting more often. Haha. Which self-hosting site did you use?

Thanks, love! When you are ready you will be a pro! It’s not that bad- I promise! I went with hostgator. Since I wanted my own domain name, I figured I might as well do it all at once, right? Didn’t want to cough up the $ for a designer so I tried to design it myself…..and now I know why people pay others to do it for them ;)
